Stretching  

Wednesdays, starting September 6
New time: 10:15 – 11:00 a.m.

Cost: $5 per class

Everyone needs a good stretch!  Come join Rebecca Reber for this 45-minute class to get out the kinks and get more limber. Stretching helps increase flexibility, range of motion and reduces joint pain by lengthening muscles and increasing blood and oxygen flow.  The class will incorporate seated and standing positions plus some meditation!

 

Strength Training Chair Aerobics

Summer Schedule: No classes in July; then Mondays and Wednesdays, 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. until Labor Day. Regular Mon/Wed/Fri schedule resumes September 6.
Cost: $4 per class

Join Elaine Corsetti, instructor, for a workout of just the right mix of aerobic & strength set to vibrant music.

Zumba Gold 

Summer Mondays, 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

New day/time starting September 8: Fridays, 11:00 a.m.
Cost: $5 per class

Join Deb Oliva for a NEW Zumba Gold Class!
Zumba Gold is a modified Zumba class for active older adults that recreates the original moves you love at a lower intensity.

Bone Builders

Summer Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

New time starting September 5: 10:30 – 11:30

Cost: None

Using light weights, our routines are centered around slow, methodical movements. A recent study in the Journal of Sports Medicine and Physical Fitness found that low-weight, high-repetition resistance training is especially effective for increasing bone mineral density in adults. Participants in the study experienced up to 8 percent bone density increases in their arms, pelvis, spine, and legs.

Chair Yoga

Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Cost: $5 per class

Instructor Louise Dorian leads a gentle yoga class with a focus on mental peace. Work on your flexibility as you experience tranquility.  Supported by the Friends of The Groton Elders.

Outdoor Walking Group 

Summer Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1:00 p.m.

Starting September 12: 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. 

Cost: Free

Pickleball

SENIOR PLAY: (you must be a registered player, a Groton resident, and 60 years or older). People interested in signing up for pickleball should reach out to The Center to fill out paperwork and receive the sign-up link.

  • Outdoor Pickleball: Pickleball is back outside! We have space at the Lost Lake Fire Station Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 8am to 12 noon through October.
  • Pickleball League: Play is at the Twomey Center Tuesdays and Thursdays from    11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. during the school year (resumes September 12), and at the Lost Lake Fire Station during the summer.
  • Occasional Player: Occasional players play with our League players on a space-available basis at Twomey during the school year, as well as at The Center on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays any season, and at the Lost Lake Fire Station during the summer.

OPEN PLAY: The Groton Center has an indoor court that is available at no charge from 3:00-4:00 PM with advance reservations on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons. Players are responsible for set up and dismantle of the net. To reserve your court or to be added to the waitlist call 978-448-1170.
